Bread Box Cafe Review

Five out of five stars

Since the pandemic, most restaurants have suffered a loss of customers and business. However, some small cafes and local restaurants have thrived, like Bread Box Cafe.

Recently, I saw a WKTR article about Bread Box Cafe and how their business has improved since the pandemic. The article quotes customers raving about how great the food is and that got me interested in checking it out.

Bread Box Cafe is located in London Bridge Plaza, off of Virginia Beach Boulevard, near TJ MAXX and Food Lion. The inside is beautiful. It is filled with bright colors and has unique pictures on the wall. It is very welcoming and I felt extremely comfortable.

The menu has a great variety of breakfast, burgers, salads, sandwiches, pizza, and pasta. The prices were reasonable, ranging from $5-$15 depending on which meal you decided to order. Unfortunately, you cannot eat inside due to the pandemic, so I placed my order for “The Pizzeria” oven-baked sandwich, and headed home.

My order came neatly packaged in a recyclable box. The sandwich was extremely big, definitely big enough for two people to eat. It was filled with pepperoni, salami, sausage, ham, tomato sauce, and mozzarella cheese. It was seasoned with herbs and packed onto ciabatta bread. It was a warm sandwich. Also, it came with oven baked chips and pickles on the side. It looked well prepared.

The first bite was incredible. The sandwich stayed intact and the flavor was amazing. Because of the large proportion, I was not able to finish the whole thing, but it was so delicious that I didn’t mind eating the rest for lunch the following day. If you’re thinking about eating a delicious meal, definitely check out Bread Box Cafe. I recommend the BLT, Smokehouse Pizza, Pasta Carbonara, and the Pizzeria sandwich for sure.
