Banana Sushi

To make your banana sushi even more exiting try adding other ingredients like nuts or dried fruit before rolling it up. (CC: www.personalcreations.com)

This snack is super easy to make and is very tasty. It only takes a few ingredients and five minutes! 

Ingredients

1 flour tortilla

1 banana (peeled) 

2-3 tablespoons of peanut butter

Nutella 

Directions

Spread peanut butter on one side of the tortilla. Add a thin line of Nutella. Peel the banana and try to straighten it the best you can (it can crack a little). Place the banana on top of the Nutella. Roll up the tortilla around the banana, making sure it is as tight as possible. Slice your roll into one inch rounds and serve! 

 

S’mores Dip

You will want to keep a close watch on your marshmallows as they are baking in the oven to make sure they don’t get over cooked or too brown on top. (CC: Steven Miller)

This snack is perfect for a sweet tooth! It is a yummy treat that can be prepared in only 12 minutes! 

Ingredients

1 bag of chocolate chips

1 bag of large marshmallows

graham crackers. 

You also need an 8 or 9 inch skillet

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Pour the chocolate chips into the skillet. Bake for 3-4 minutes until the chocolate is melted. Arrange the marshmallows over the top of the chocolate chips. Bake until the marshmallows are browned and serve! 

 

Pizza Toast

This snack is savory and delicious after a school day. It takes a bit longer to make, but is definitely worth it. 

Ingredients

6 slices of bread

1 cup of pizza sauce

2 cups of mozzarella

½ cup of mini pepperoni

1 tablespoon of parsley

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and use parchment paper to line a medium baking sheet. Place the bread on the sheet and spread pizza sauce on each one. Top with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. Bake until cheese is melted and pepperoni is lightly crisped. Garnish with parmesan and parsley. 

 

Salted Peanut Butter Cup Smoothie

Just like with some of the other recipes, you can try adding different ingredients to mix up the flavors. (Jennifer Longaway)

This snack is an easy fill up and a flavorful smoothie! 

Ingredients

1 cup of Vanilla Almond Milk

½ of a banana

1 tablespoon of cocoa powder

1 tablespoon of peanut butter

½ cup of ice

1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder

flaky sea salt (optional). 

Directions

Blend all the ingredients together except for the sea salt until smooth. To serve, sprinkle a little sea salt on top! 

 

Spicy Avocado Hummus

Try spreading your avocado hummus on thick toasted bread for a filling snack. (Marco Verch)

This fiery snack is an amazing combination of flavor. It takes a little more time to prepare, but has an amazing taste. 

Ingredients 

 4 cups of chickpeas

¼ cup of lemon juice

⅓ cup of extra-virgin olive oil

1 avocado (halved, pitted, peeled)

3 tablespoons of tahini

1 jalapeno

1 garlic clove

pepper/salt

pinch of cayenne pepper

pita chips/tortilla chips. 

Directions

Combine the chickpeas, lemon juice, olive oil, avocado, tahini, jalapeno, and garlic into the bowl of a food processor. Then, puree until smooth, season with the salt/pepper, and stir in the cayenne. Now, serve with your favorite tortilla chips or pita!
