Congratulations Teacher of the Month Spanish Teacher, Mrs. Ashley Pate
“Senora Pate has always been there for me, just since having known her last year (virtual, which just goes to show!), and now having her again this year. She is so sweet and an amazingggg teacher. Senora is very personable and is all around the greatest person you could cross paths with in Salem. She is the definition of what it means to be a Salem Sundevil.” – junior Madison Palok
Freshman Brandon Walker
“Brandon Walker is a unique student who gives his personal best each day. He always completes his work and contributes to class discussions. He never complains and embraces whatever comes his way with a positive attitude. Brandon is a goal setter. He has his own lawn business and is teaching himself to repair lawn equipment. He is a remarkable teen who I wish to recognize as an inspiration for all.” – English Teacher Mrs. Powers-Carasella
Sophomore Rebecca Liverman
“In addition to being a phenomenal student taking 8 classes and acing them all, Becca has become an integral part of the Salem Marching Sundevils. Helping out wherever she is needed with a smile and an infectious energy, she has quickly become a standout leader in the band and in the classroom.” – English Teacher Mrs. Lacy Krell
Junior Anna Grace Riegle
“Anna Grace is one of those students who represents a true SunDevil, but often flies under the radar because she is not the loudest voice in the room. Over the past two years Anna Grace has become a leader in journalism. She was particularly integral in welcoming new staff members and making them feel at home at the beginning of the school year. She also does the website design for the SunDevil Times website. Finally, she’s just a good kid. She’s not just academic, but she is also warm, kind and empathetic.” – English Teacher Kathleen Trace
Senior Elmer Quinn
“Elmer has been working hard to make sure his peers are successful in many ways here at Salem and VPAA. He continually goes out of his way to support our musical teachers and staff in the day to day operations as well being an effective leader as drum captain of the Marching Sundevils, helping them ear 1st place drum line. In addition, he volunteers his time and talents supporting the many performing ensembles in percussion and viola in our wind ensemble, VPAA orchestras, and Salem Orchestra. Lastly, Elmer has been working hard creating opportunities for musical performance by composing original pieces and arranging songs for orchestra, marching band, and percussion ensemble. Elmer’s positive attitude and leadership has helped students in the Salem and VPAA musical ensembles achieve success and have fun while doing so. His efforts are greatly appreciated.” – Instrumental Teacher Mr. Rick Kalinauskas
