Evil Dead Rise

Movie Review

Julia Dixon, Staff Writer

Evil Dead Rise is a horror film that came out on April 21, 2023. I watched this movie with my two friends Rebecca and Madison. My personal opinion of this movie is that it is really scary and gory. I hid behind my blanket to where only my eyes were visible. I honestly hated the movie and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone unless you like gore and really scary movies. I ran out of the theater as soon as it was done.

“Yes it was scary 100%,” said Senior Rebecca Demuro. “There was a lot of blood and I have never ever seen so much blood in a movie in my life.”

The character’s names are Ellie, Danny, Beth, Bridget, and Kassie. Ellie is played by Alyssa Sutherland, Danny is played by Morgan Davies, Beth is played by Lily Sullivan, Bridget is played by Gabrielle Echols, and Kassie is played by Nell Fisher. There is an earthquake while they are in this shady garage and part of the floor goes in. Danny goes into the little hole in the ground and finds a dusty book and vinyl. There are ghost sounds when Danny finds the book and vinyl. He secretly brings it with him to his room and starts looking through the book. He then goes upstairs and plays the vinyl while reading the book. It all gets crazy from there.

Senior Madison Sherman said she would “maybe” watch it again.

“I think it was a good story,” said Sherman.  I loved the plot of it all. It was honestly a good concept. The actors really knew how to make their role scary. Overall I loved it. It’s just the jump scare part that scared me.”

The cheese grater scene was the absolute worst part of the whole entire movie. It was traumatizing to watch and witness. I never want to see that again. You’ll have to watch the movie if you want more details.

What’s crazy about this movie is that “Evil Dead Rise is the longest movie in the franchise” according to https://www.cinemablend.com. Also according to theusafactsnow.com, “Principal photography began in New Zealand on June 6,2021, and wrapped up on October 27, 2021”

“I would probably watch it again,” said Demuro. “Horror movies are less scary each time you watch them.”

Overall, this was a very interesting movie, but it isn’t something I would ever watch again. This movie had a little too much gore and killing for me.
