Navigating the stairwells is one of the first challenges students, particularly freshmen, face at the beginning of the year. The A Stairs bottleneck can get stressful, and some students spend their first few weeks of school figuring out how to avoid it.
The B stairwell, located by the math hallway generally tends to be the best stairwell to take due to its convenience and easy accessibility. It also tends to be the least crowded.
“I prefer B stairs because it is around all my classes,” said sophomore Isaya Bolden. “Although it can be crowded between first and second block.”
Watch out for traffic in the B stairwell between first and second block, along with at the start of One Lunch, as it can get overcrowded at those times.
The C stairwell, located near the history classrooms, is generally considered the second best staircase in the school. It is rarely crowded and the best place to go for a quiet trip to your next class.
“I use the C stairwell most mainly because it is near guidance,” said senior Phaedra Diacopoulos. “But one thing I really dislike is how there is always food in the stairwell for some reason.”
Although the C stairwell can be hard to find, it is a quiet and efficient path to get from class to class.
The D stairs, located near the nurse’s office, tends to be the least visited stairwell due to how far away it is from a majority of the classes.
“As much as I love how easy the [D] stairwell is to get to from the front of the school. It seems to never have any internet reception,” said senior Mac Cook.
The A stairwell is located by the cafeteria and tends to be the worst stairwell to go to during the school day.
“As soon as you get out of class the stairwell is always so crowded,” said freshman Rosie Bank. “What makes it worse is the smell.”
Most people take the A stairs because of how close it can be to all upstairs classes.
“I feel that the only [redeeming] factor of the A stairs is their proximity to everything, especially when you’re trying to get to the cafeteria,” said sophomore Em Montalvo.
Ultimately, based on student input, the best stairwell to use during the day in order to avoid crowds is the B stairwell.
