You can find the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on almost every app, website, and social media platform. Our world is saturated with AI and people are starting to become more dependent on it. AI can be helpful in many different ways, but it is important to be smart about how and when you use it.
Artificial Intelligence is used in:
- Voice Assistants
There are many different types of voice assistants but some commonly used ones are Alexa, Siri, and Google. By using your voice you can ask them nearly anything. According to Insider Intelligence, “Voice assistants use AI natural language processing technology to interpret human speech and respond accordingly in a human-like voice.”
- Social Media
Social Media can use imagination creation, content curation, sentiment analysis and even chatbots. Examples include Snapchat’s “My AI” and Instagram’s “Meta AI.” Social Media platforms use things such as sentiment analysis to analyze your followers and viewers.
According to GeeksforGeeks.org, “Sentiment analysis is the process of classifying whether a block of text is positive, negative, or neutral. The goal which Sentiment analysis tries to gain is to analyze people’s opinions in a way that can help businesses expand.”
- Facial and Pattern Recognition
Most newer devices use recognition to unlock instead of just a password. This can be found on your phones, computers, and/or customized locks. According to Bernard Marr, a world-renowned futurist, influencer and thought leader in the fields of business and technology, face recognition AI “uses machine learning algorithms to compare the scan of your face with what it has stored about your face to determine if the person trying to unlock the phone is you or not.”
- Generate AI content
Content such as short stories, templates, and recipes (just to name a few) can be generated by AI apps or platforms such as Canva, ChatGPT, and BardAI.
- Banking
A bank, whether it is an online banking system or a face-to-face bank, uses many different AI algorithms in fraud detection, cybersecurity, and predictive analytics.
- Photoshop
Photoshop is used by millions of businesses and individuals. It’s made so you can alter images any way you can imagine. Photoshop AI can add elements and remove backgrounds among other things.
- Language Translator
You can translate text from one language to another using an AI language translator like Google Translate or learn different languages using different apps. For example, Duolingo is laying off a large number of workers because they are moving to using more AI in creating their lessons.
- Smart home
Some people have AI in their homes with devices like Alexa that can control most things like their lighting or their door locks. Voice-activated home systems are becoming more popular and smart thermostats are also gaining in popularity.
- Navigation
AI navigation is a very helpful tool to use to get where you need to go. It detects weather and road collisions, all to help you choose the best and fastest route to help get where you need to be.
- Security Cameras
These cameras use AI algorithms to get data, track, and record. They keep records of events, people, time, and objects all backed up on a device. Security cameras can be in homes, offices, schools, street lights, and more.
These are only a few of the many places AI surrounds us on a daily basis. Artificial intelligence is in almost every online database and electronic device available. People use it without even knowing. Like most things, it has its advantages and disadvantages, but it’s only going to get more advanced and widely used from here on. So sticking our heads in the sand won’t do us any good. We need to be aware of the AI happening around us.
