Since finals week is on the way, the best thing to do is get in the zone and study. Focusing can be hard when there are so many outside distractions, so why not go to the library to study? I visited a few of the closest libraries to scope out their biggest benefits.
Kempsville Area Library
Although a bit small, Kempsville Area Library is one of my favorite libraries in the area. The librarians have amazing book recommendations, the area is quiet with very little interruptions, they have study rooms that can be reserved, and so much more! The space is so welcoming, with a bunch of really comfortable seating options and public computers. This library is a great space for productivity in a place that isn’t too intimidating.
“The main reason I love the Kempsville Library is the staff. Everyone is extremely welcoming and kind. They always do their best to put on great programs for the public as well,” said sophomore Mirabelle Malone. “I also love Kempsville’s Teen Space, it is full of a lot of entertaining activities and is a safe space to hang out.”
Princess Anne Area Library
Princess Anne Area Library is a quiet and bright space for studying. The library is divided into sections (children, adults, and teen book areas), so finding a good space without distractions is pretty easy. There is a large room with used books that visitors can purchase for affordable prices, and the space also allows visitors to use study rooms!
“I grew up going to this library and the atmosphere is very pleasant and nostalgic for me. I have been able to get a lot of work done thanks to the Princess Anne library!” said senior Jasper Covington.
Tidewater Community College Library
The TCC library is an amazing space for anyone and everyone. I couldn’t recommend this library enough. There are so many seating options and the atmosphere is unbelievably perfect for a good study session! I think my favorite part about it is the store at the very front that carries snacks, drinks, sandwiches, subs, coffee, and any other snacks someone would need. The digital kiosk even makes a little cheering sound when you pay! I love how open the space is and the natural light provided by the many windows all around the building. It’s the perfect study spot for a nice sunny day!
“It’s very spacious and there’s no pressure about lowering your volume since there’s so much space, but it’s still quiet where you need it to be. I really love it!” said senior Caleigh Howell.
Wherever you decide to study, finding a good space at a Virginia Beach Public Library isn’t hard. As long as you find a place that makes you comfortable and focused, that space is for you. Libraries are amazingly full of inspiration and focus for studying. Visit your local library today!
