There are 2 different types of diplomas, one is an advanced diploma and one is a standard diploma. Picking a diploma can be difficult if you don’t know the differences between the two. Below are the differences between Standard and Advanced diplomas.
Advanced Diplomas Standard Diplomas
Requires 26 credits to graduate. Of these 26 credits 5 must be verified credits as follows. 2 english, 1 math, 1 science, and 1 social studies | Requires 22 credits to graduate. Of these 22 credits 5 must be verified credits as follows: 2 English, 1 math, 1 science, 1 social studies |

Mathematics 4 credits
Courses completed to satisfy this requirement shall include at least three different course selections from among algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, or other mathematics courses above the level of algebra 2 |

Courses completed to satisfy this requirement shall include Virginia and U.S. History, Virginia and U.S Government, and two courses in either world history or geography or both |
