Ring Dance is a junior prom that gives juniors the opportunity to get their class rings and celebrate. This year’s Ring Dance will take place on March 29th, 2025, from 7pm-10pm at The Military Aviation Museum. Students not attending Salem are only permitted to go if they fill out a guest form and are approved. All forms must be turned in room DE2 to Ms. Tanna Anderson and Mrs. Sandy Szilassy, co-sponsors of Ring Dance.

“Ring dance is an opportunity to celebrate students receiving their class rings,” said Anderson. “This is more widely known as junior prom since students no longer receive their rings at the dance.”
This year’s Ring Dance theme is “Fly me to the moon,” a song by Frank Sinatra. This comes from the idea inspired by the location of the dance, the Aviation Museum. “Fly me to the moon” also gives an Old Hollywood feel to the dance.
“I think ring dance is a great opportunity for people to congregate each other and enjoy themselves,” said junior Sam Tuner. “I would tell other students that ring dance is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, so you should definitely go.”
There were many fundraisers that took place to sponsor the Ring Dance. Such asThese included T-Shirt sales, a sweetheart photo booth, Snap Raise, Fairy Hair, and the Winter Holiday Social. Class of 2026 students worked to plan these fundraisers, making the process of paying for Ring Dance much easier.
“We have other juniors participating in the process of organizing Ring Dance through our Ring Dance committees,” said junior Bethany Wilmoth. “We’re currently working on decorations, as we need to have them ready day-of since we’re unable to set up early.”

The idea for Ring Dance fashion statements would be wearing clothes that are reminiscent of the era of the (1950s-1960s), the time surrounding when the song “Fly me to the moon” was released. During this time period people were more likely to wear fur boas/shawls, gloves, dramatic makeup, fitted suits, long dresses, and neat, lightly slicked back or gelled hair.
“Is it facetious to say I’m looking forward to getting it over with? It’ll be fun, of course, but since I don’t exactly get to revel in the results, I’m ready to move on to bigger and better things for our class!” said junior Bethany Wilmoth. “In all seriousness, I am truly ecstatic to see the junior class all get together in a high concentration. I’d imagine it’s the first time we all get a chance to socialize solely with one another since orientation.”
Ring Dance is an event that allows juniors to have fun with their class. It is an event that takes a great deal of effort and work. Sponsors and the class of 2026 have worked hard for this year’s Ring Dance, and it looks like it will be a great success.
