Ms. Alexandria Hakim, who is currently finishing her teaching degree at James Madison University, is fulfilling her student teaching practicum requirement by covering Mrs. Kimberley Rowe’s economics and World History I classes. Rowe moved on to become Director of Enrollment Management at Chesapeake Bay Academy.
Hakim’s position includes designing lesson plans, contacting parents, behavior management, and grading.
“I want students to know that since I am a student teacher right now, I am a student along with them. We are learning and growing together,” said Hakim.
Students in her classes are fond of their new teacher.
“She is definitely a good teacher,” said junior Nik Vik.
Hakim is still learning the ropes, but she hopes to stay at Salem full-time after she graduates.
“I get along with students,” said Hakim. “I was just telling another student that we have the same talkative vibe.”
Hakim relates to students and makes connections with all grade levels. If you see her in the hallway, be sure to welcome her.
