Ribs, it’s what’s for dinner.
On Monday, I went to Rib City, which is proclaimed as one of the best BBQ restaurants in Virginia Beach. I tasted the food, surveyed the atmosphere, and checked up on the service, and, to my satisfaction, my experience was amazing.
When I entered the restaurant with my acquaintance, I was overcome with somewhat of a “homey” feeling. It felt as though I was in a modern countryside diner fused with elements of southern charm. After being seated, I took in my surroundings and noticed the open support beams that were lightly tinted brown. Continuing to gaze around, I noticed the booths were made out of dark brown wood layered with a horizontal line pattern. With traces of molded metal, the furniture added to the rustic feel. On the left side of the restaurant, I noticed a sign on the wall that read: “Unruly children will be used as bait.” It was very amusing. The place was definitely not like most restaurants, but it was unique. I give Rib City a 5/5 for interior design and overall atmosphere.
Upon scouring over the menu, I decided to order the “Tony Combo,” a full rack of baby back ribs, ¼ pound of pulled pork, and two sides. For the sides, I ordered mac and cheese and fries, and I also got a Coca-Cola to drink. While waiting for the food, I noticed three different bottles of BBQ sauce on the table. One tasted sweet and smoky, one was more tangy, and the other had a mustard base.
About nine minutes after ordering my food, it was delivered to my table, looking delicious. The ribs were dunked in a plentiful amount of barbecue sauce, while the mac and cheese was consumed with just the right amount of cheddar. The fries were a bit crunchy; however, they were also soft, which complemented the mac and cheese well. After counting each of the twelve ribs, I determined that it was a good rack; all of the ribs fell off the bone. After I finished my meal, I asked my server for a to-go drink, and he happily obliged. Both of these factors, the food and the service, make Rib City deserving a five-star review.
In conclusion, all of the aspects of Rib City are worthy of a five star rating, meaning that the overall rating is a 5 out of 5. I highly recommend Rib City for any and all BBQ lovers out there.
