A long-awaited video game adaptation has hit the theaters and the local fast food chain, McDonald’s. ‘A Minecraft Movie’ has surpassed a total of $700 million at the box office and accumulated attention around the globe, and McDonald’s is now serving Minecraft Happy Meals and Minecraft-themed adult meal options.
A ‘Minecraft Movie Meal’ comes with either a Big Mac or 10-piece McNuggets, with a side of fries and a drink of your choice. Six possible collectables that come with the meal include a Big Mac Crystal, Birdie Wings, a Fry Helmet, a Grimace Egg, a Soda Potion, or a Zombie Hamburglar.
Originally, I was caught off guard by the price of the meal. McDonald’s was supposed to be cheap, right? Before the additional $0.25 for the Nether Sauce, the Big Mac Minecraft meal is $13.79. With the Nether Sauce, the total is $14.04. About ten minutes after my initial order, a large, golden box found its way to my table. To my disappointment, my Diet Coke was not in the Minecraft-themed cup; however, the first bite of my Big Mac cured my despair. Could the Nether Flame Sauce make it even better?
I cautiously poured the supposedly spicy sauce over my next bite. Frankly, whoever claimed, “this was the hottest fast food sauce ever,” lied. It is simply hot sauce, nothing special. It tasted okay with the burger and fries, but I would never buy it again.
After finishing the mediocre food, I eagerly opened the Minecraft “chest.” I had a suspicion I would get the Grimace collectible, and I did. I had wanted the Hamburglar, but obtaining Grimace was a perfect turnout.
Overall, I would say the meal is a fun experience, and McDonald’s was clever for investing in the movie’s popularity.
“It is the best meal I’ve had in a while!” said junior Lily Cooley.
Although I felt the food was mediocre and nothing special, I would still recommend the meal to many. Do not forget to mine before you craft!
