On October 11th, the Student Council Association will be hosting its annual Homecoming dance in the cafeteria, from 7-10 pm. The SCA selected the theme “The Big Apple” for this year’s events.
“I really like the theme because I feel like it’s very different from other schools’ themes,” said freshman Haley Stone.
Although people don’t see a lot of what happens behind the scenes for Homecoming preparation, it can be a long process.
“It’s a lot of background work and communication we do within the entirety [of] Salem,” said senior SCA president Lolo Elmquist. “We are contacting your teachers, coaches, advisors, and even you yourself for input and support for Hoco.”
The process for picking a homecoming theme is tedious. SCA has to consider the students’ needs and what would work best.
“Our theme gets chosen at our executive council retreat over the summer,” said Elmquist. “We look for the design to be an original interpretation of the theme.”
