Disney+: Star Wars, Marvel, and more

Disney has big plans for its new streaming service

From movies to TV shows, and even animated short series, Disney has provided some of the most influential pieces of film that have helped shape pop culture. Over the years, this multi-billion dollar company has bought out other companies to add onto it’s empire including Marvel, Star Wars, Fox entertainment, ESPN, and more. For this ever growing kingdom the next step was a Disney streaming service.

“Disney has become such a huge part of everyday life now and is on it’s way to ruling the world,” said senior Ethan Trenum.

On November 12th, Disney dropped their first streaming service called “Disney+.”
A free week of streaming was offered for new users. So many people subscribed that the streaming service experienced extreme glitching problems in the first few days, but corrections were made quickly and the service redeemed itself.

“I always find myself watching something new on the app and that’s always been something that I’ve had a hard time doing with other services like Netflix,” said Trenum.

The app itself features nearly 500 movies and around 750,000 episodes of TV shows. Given all that content, Disney does not plan to stop at movies and TV that has already been released.

Disney+ plans to release new original content. So far, it has already released The Mandalorian and Lady and the Tramp.

“I’m excited to see what new shows Disney has in store for the fans,” said senior Janitza Ferrerais.

Further plans include Disney expanding their Marvel Universe with various shows ranging from: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye, and more. We can expect to hear many more announcements for shows and movies coming out exclusively on Disney+.

Along with the abundance of content, the app only costs $6.99 a month which is less than a #1 combo meal from Chick-Fil-A. The app runs smoothly, and has an amazing presentation which allows users to easily browse through the content. With all things considered, my verdict on Disney + is an 8/10 due to it’s amazing ability to keep average fans and fanatics wanting more. It didn’t quite achieve 10/10 due to its initial glitchiness.
