Fashion trends are constantly evolving, and students love to express themselves through their style. Whether it’s a dress over jeans, layered belts, or a new way to mix gold and silver jewelry, fresh looks are on the rise.
“My favorite fashion trend I often spot at our school is maximalism because the outfits are always so unique and give a look into the creative mind of the individual wearing it,” said sophomore Jasmine Shirden-Jackson.
There are tons of trends in our hallways, but personal preference for clothing stems from personal style. There are many ‘aesthetics’ or ‘styles’ that are associated with specific clothing items. It depends solely on what students want to go for. Regardless, there are staples in everyone’s wardrobe.
“My favorite clothing item is my fur hoodie I got from Kiikio,” said junior Jacobi Dantzler. “I style it with [almost all of] my outfits during the winter.”
Staples are timeless and versatile clothing items that add a finishing touch or form the foundation of any outfit.
“I love streetwear a lot, so that hoodie just brings my fits together,” said Dantzler.
In addition to versatility, students are creative about how they style their clothes, finding many ways to mix and match tops and bottoms to create an outfit they love.
“I like low-rise jeans styled with long sleeves, lacey tops, tube tops, as well as lots of jewelry,” said Shirden-Jackson.
Not only are trends returning from previous years, but students are even piquing interest in leaving it to their own vision to personalize clothing items.
“[My favorite] fashion trend right now [is] DIY accessories, for example, jewelry on Timbs (Timberlands), custom rings, belts, and even clothes. I love the uniqueness and hope to achieve that someday,” said Dantzler.
Fashion is subjective, and it is up to an individual’s taste and opinions. Students will continue to express themselves through what they wear, bringing together uniqueness and creativity. Trends are always fleeting and have their rise and fall. Can you keep up?
