Junior Kailee Haske recently took a trip with her best friend to West Virginia. Her friend’s family owns a house on the mountains. The property is surrounded by four wheeling trails..

“I know the trails like the back of my hand,” said Haske

She took the four wheeler out each day and sped around the trails. Then on Thursday December 30 she hit a bump wrong.

The sun was beginning to set and the air was brisk. Haske and her friend took the four wheelers out to ride the tracks as usual. Everything was going according to plan, until she hit the bump and the four wheeler landed just slightly off the path, causing it to fall out of Haske’s control. The vehicle continued to speed up, and Haske was ejected 20 feet down a mountain ravine. She tumbled and scraped through the ravine until she hit the bottom. As she lay, her best friend’s mother rushed to Haske and pulled her to safety.

As the sun set, Haske was loaded into the car and rushed to the hospital. After a quick examination they concluded Haske had completely shattered her collarbone. When Haske returned home, she was taken to an orthopedic doctor who determined she had also broken her wrist.

This accident put an end to Haske’s participation in her junior cheer season, but she still sits through each practice and game and supports the sports teams and the cheer team.

Although the four-wheeler is currently totaled, Haske is ready to fix it up and paint it pink for her next adventure.

“I’ll be back for a forest rematch as soon as I’m healed,” said Haske.
