When I first came to Salem I was very nervous. I was new and I didn’t know anyone. I kept to myself in the beginning. I like Salem because the people here are very welcoming and nice. I like being around people who make me feel comfortable to speak and communicate.

The teachers here made me feel comfortable and my counselor is very nice, she is always checking on me and making sure I got everything I need since I’m a senior. I love the fact that I can go to her or my teachers and talk to them. Salem is very different from where I’m from in Georgia.

I’m not going to lie. I was very scared coming to this school because I felt like nobody would like me or talk to me, but I have made friends with some of the sweetest people ever and I love them.  Being at this school has made me very stressed and happy at the same time. I say stressed because of the SOLs I have to take, but what student wouldn’t be stressed out about tests?  I am happy, though, because I wouldn’t have thought that I would like Salem as much as I do. I especially love B days because I take my favorite classes on those days, and I get to see my friends.

I am still not totally used to the new environment, but everyone here has made me feel like I have been here forever.
