For over a year, travel was extremely limited due to Covid-19, but now students are taking advantage of the fact that COVID testing is no longer required for travel. Here are some amazing trips that students have gone on.

Senior Trent McGarrigle:

Q: What is the craziest trip you have been on?

A: “I went to Cambodia, Philippines, and Vietnam all in one trip. It was about a month long, and I spent most of that time with my family in the Philippines.”

Q: What did you do while you were there?

A: “When I was in the Philippines, I bounced between all the islands, though I mostly stuck to where my mom’s hometown was: Mindanao. As for Cambodia, I visited a myriad of ancient temples from several thousand years ago. And for Vietnam, I went through a lot about the Vietnam war.”

Q: What was your favorite part of the trip?

A: “My favorite part was probably Manila, which is the capital of the Philippines. Though the traffic was horrendous, I just liked being there.”

Senior Matthew Huey:

Q: What is the craziest trip you have been on?

A: “I would say without a doubt the trip my dad and I took to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to see a concert.”

Q: What did you do while you were there?

A: “We stopped by the band’s merch stand and picked up a couple t-shirts and walked around the venue. The Metropolitan Opera House is an incredible place to see a band play.”

Q: What was your favorite part of the trip?

A: “My favorite part of the trip was being able to explore the city and see one of my favorite bands in the same night.”

Senior Amaya Hampton:

Q: What is the craziest trip you have been on?

A: “I went to the beach during hurricane Sandy with my grandpa.”

Q: What did you do while you were there?

A: “Well we were going to walk down to the water, but I couldn’t walk because the winds were so strong. Keep in mind I was seven at the time so I didn’t weigh that much.”

Q: What was your favorite part of the trip?

A: “Honestly the thrill was the best part. The fact I can remember it so vividly even 10 years later is cool. Would I do it again? You bet. It was worth almost being blown away.”

Senior William Thompson:

Q: What is the craziest trip you have been on?

A: “The craziest trip I have been on was when I went to a boy scout summer camp up in New York called Camp Gordon and my troop accidentally left me at a KFC on the way back.”

Q: What did you do while you were there?

A: “I completed a couple of merit badges and then we went on a hike up on one of the local mountains.”

Q: What was your favorite part of the trip?

A: “I would have to say that the best part was the hike up the mountain. It was relatively easy and there was even a flow through the mountain side coming from a steam that was safe to drink from.”

Senior Marqual Howell:

Q: What is the craziest trip you have been on?

A: “The craziest trip I have ever been on would be the trip to Florida because it was my first time flying in a airplane and I have a big fear of heights and I got lightheaded and passed out, but I was fine just very very scared and once we landed I got really scared and passed out again. It was fun, but it wasn’t at the same time. I hated being so high up in the sky.”

Q: What did you do while you were there?

A: “I went to a petting zoo, Universal, and we stayed in a fancy mansion that my uncle owned and we went swimming for hours.”

Q: What was your favorite part of the trip?

A: “To be honest, it would be going home. I missed my bed. I was tired of being in Florida and I had fun, but it was time to go home.”

Senior Madison Gutcher:

Q: What is the craziest trip you have been on?

A: “When my family and I went to Florida a couple of years ago for my brother’s wedding.”

Q: What did you do while you were there?

A: “We were out and about everyday for a week like Sea World, beach day, carnival festival, had an all girls get together before the wedding, and saw my nephew.”

Q: What was your favorite part of the trip?

A: “Definitely being on the beach with the whole family and seeing one of my brothers get married.”

Senior Madison Sherman:

Q: What is the craziest trip you have been on?

A: “I’d say the craziest trip that I can remember going on is when I was 11 and I went to Universal for Harry Potter World. My parents wouldn’t tell me where we were going the entire trip until we finally got there. When it was the day to go, that morning my parents had made the trip seem like I was actually invited to Hogwarts with a letter and everything.”

Q: What did you do while you were there?

A: “It was for my 11th birthday and they did it on how it was in the story where I got a letter and everything to make it seem like I was in that world.”

Q: What was your favorite part of the trip?

A: “I would say being able to interact with the park area with a magic wand and just going on an adventure. Also, the staff members made my birthday feel special because they remained in character and continued to make me feel like I was in the Harry Potter World.”

Senior James Green:

Q: What is the craziest trip you have been on?

A: “I would say Jamaica.”

Q: What did you do while you were there?

A: “Well we went to this hotel and it had a beach, a swimming pool, and some restaurants and we went to this awesome swimming show at the pool.”

Q: What was your favorite part of the trip?

A: “When me and my grandma went to the pizza place and we ate pizza. I’ll never forget that.”
