Released on December 2, 2025, Keeper of the Lost Cities graphic novel Volume One, Part Two, is something I have long awaited.
I’ve been following this series since around 2019, and out of all the books I currently own, this series has been a consistent favorite, and has me constantly re-reading the books over and over again.
While reading part two, I judged it based on the characters’ looks and how closely it follows and continues not only the original storyline but also where part one left off.
Character Looks: Whereas in part one I felt as though the proportions of the characters’ faces were off, part two offered a more realistic view of the characters. The issues I had previously had regarding part one’s characters are all resolved with this new edition.
Story Line: Right at the beginning, I felt lost on where I was in the story. They seemed to have skipped a few chapters between the end of part one and the beginning of part two. As well as they changed a few details in some of the chapters, which were different in the actual book. For me, that took away from my enjoyment while reading, seeing as though it changed the plot slightly.
Overall, I was happy with how this graphic novel turned out, despite the few issues with the storyline early on.
The Keeper of the Lost Cities world, which currently consists of 13 books, including books 8.5 and 9.5, and the two graphic novels, is expecting a new edition to be released sometime in late 2026. However, in November of 2025, Shannon Messenger released the title of the next book, Elysian.
