Students may already know Mr. Christopher Milonas as their math teacher, but some may not know that he also coaches our girls’ volleyball team.
How did you get into volleyball?
I played in high school and wanted to get involved in coaching here at Salem, so it was a perfect fit.
How do you balance coaching volleyball with teaching?
My assistant coach, Carl Alberico, helps take some of the burden off me. I also spend a lot of time here at Salem throughout the season.
What are your favorite parts of Coaching?
Nothing beats the camaraderie of a close-knit team. That team aspect along with seeing the development of a player throughout one or multiple seasons are my favorite parts of coaching.
Have you played volleyball before? If so what prompted you to start playing?
My childhood friends got me to start playing a season of recreational volleyball in 8th grade. I continued to play four years of high school volleyball.
Outside of volleyball what other hobbies do you have?
I love other sports as well as volleyball, like golf and basketball, which I watch and play. I also have started to enjoy running.
Milonas is very committed to what he does for his team and his students. While he does coach the girls’ volleyball team, he is also a geometry teacher in Room 119 if you ever need to ask him a question or even just pop in to say hello.
