If you’ve spent any amount of time watching videos on social media, you’ve probably heard the soft guitar sounds of the song “blue” by yung kai. Its wholesome energy and lyrics draws the attention of content creators, who use the song in various types of videos. yung kai isn’t just a one-hit-wonder, though, having released his debut studio album, stay with the ocean, i’ll find you, on September 26, 2025.
With a runtime of about 34 minutes, stay with the ocean, i’ll find you has 11 songs. I will be rating four songs on this album on the lyrics, ease of listening, and the probability I think it’d go viral. The album overall is a pop album filled with soft interpretations of love.
Track 1: “blue”
The album opens up with yung kai’s viral social media hit, “blue”, which is a soft pop song that explores the singer’s love at first sight. Although it’s not my favorite song from the album, I understand why it went viral and is used in many wholesome posts. To many, this song appearing out of nowhere was like a breath of fresh air in the pop music industry: a song free of dirty language and confusing sounds. As the lyrics contain many unique metaphors and dreamy scenarios, I would rate them 8/10. I would rate the ease of listening a 10/10. Finally, I would rate the viral probability 10/10, as it already has over one billion streams across various platforms.
Track 2: “wildflower”
The second track is another well-known song: “wildflower,” released as a single in April of 2024, making it the oldest track in the album. The song utilizes refreshing electric guitar and drum sounds, giving the song an upbeat and happy feeling. The lyrics compare the singer’s lover to wildflowers, which transcends the simple, affectionate statements that are used to convey love. I think that these comparisons of the lover being as pretty as a wildflower really emphasize the amount of pure love the singer has for them. I would rate the lyrics of this song a 9/10. For ease of listening, I’d rate it a 10/10. It’s a perfect song for a walk in a park or garden. I would give the viral probability a 10/10. I believe that it could have been as popular as “blue” if it was released at a similar time.
Track 5: “my love my love my love”
The next track of this review is the fifth track, “my love my love my love”. This track switches up the flow of the album with a slow piano instrumental. The slow pace of the instruments provides an emotional tone that matches the lyrics, which express the singer’s undying love for their lover. The lyrics are very raw and emotional, adding to the beauty of the song. I would personally rate the lyrics a 10/10 because of how much pure love is packed into them. I would rate the ease of listening a 10/10. I really enjoy songs that sound like lullabies, and this song is a perfect example of that. For viral probability, I would give it a 7/10. Since the song is pretty slow, I don’t think many people would be attracted to it on first listen, especially if they don’t read into the lyrics.
Track 7: “flower”
The seventh track of this album, “flower,” is another slow song, continuing the emotional and lovely flow of the latter part of the album. This one is my personal favorite with its slow tempo and soft vocals, making it the perfect song to sleep to or just lie down and listen to. The lyrics take a turn away from the happy first love feelings and into a reflection of feelings of love that is withering away. The lyrics compare the singer’s loving heart to a flower that is withering away in their lover’s hand. I think that the symbolism used in the lyrics is a very smart and beautiful use of poetic language to convey the feeling of the singer and their lover’s love that is wilting like a dying flower. For lyrics, I will break the rating system and rate it 11/10. I would rate the ease of listening a 10/10. I would consider it the easiest song on the album to listen to if someone has never heard any other yung kai song. I would rate the viral probability a 4/10. I love it, but I don’t think that millions of people who don’t even know yung kai would be very attracted to this song.
Overall, I would give yung kai’s debut studio album, stay with the ocean, i’ll find you, a rating of 9.8/10. The album is a beautiful collection of songs about love: finding it, losing it, and longing for it. yung kai is an incredibly talented singer-songwriter who deserves the large success his songs accumulate. If you’ve heard “blue” and “wildflower” on social media posts, and you like them, then you’ll likely enjoy the other songs on his album. It’s a lovely album, so I encourage you to give it a listen!
