Regardless of what music you listen to, you’ve likely heard of Zara Larsson’s music; whether it was the “Symphony” meme blasting through your speakers or a staple on a mid-2010s playlist. For a while, her career seemed to have died, but that changed in the summer of 2025. Suddenly, she was everywhere: dominating TikTok with her energetic dances and taking over the stage with her powerhouse concerts; it was a total career revival.
After years of working on her music career, her old hits started gaining attention from the viral Symphony Dolphin Meme, and she decided to completely rebrand herself, fully embracing this with a Y2K, colorful, tropical, “Malibu Barbie” theme, featuring dolphins, bright makeup, and outfits.
This review will cover whether or not her most popular songs are really that good or if it’s just another Y2K fascination. The songs under review are “Lush Life,” “Crush,” “Symphony,” and “Midnight Sun,” the four most popular songs going around right now.
“Lush Life”
“Lush Life” came out in 2015, and it quickly became a major international hit after its release, topping charts in Sweden and reaching the top five in many other countries, effectively solidifying her status as a global pop star.
The track wastes no time, immediately throwing you into the song with simple and repetitive lyrics while also hyping you up. The song is often described as the summer’s anthem, and honestly, I agree. This stands as one of my personal favorites of the songs I have heard from Zara Larsson. It keeps it simple yet effective, creating a catchy and classic song for the playlist.
“Crush”
Crush came out in 2025 on her Midnight Sun album and gained significant traction on pop radio as her second-highest peaking song on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart; however, I don’t understand the hype.
Crush feels really slow and outdated compared to her usual songs. I can’t really pay attention to her lyrics, because frankly, it’s a bit boring. I don’t find any point to it, however, I do find the background music catchy.
“Symphony”
“Symphony” was released in 2017, standing as one of her best songs, a huge part of what revived her career, as it was the viral dolphin meme on TikTok that made the song gain popularity again.
“Symphony” is one of the few songs that doesn’t feel outdated and genuinely feels nostalgic. It is described as another summer classic. I found it to be very catchy, even if it was at times soft spoken or slow paced compared to her other songs.
“Midnight Sun”
”Midnight Sun” is one of her newer songs, although it is a bit slow-paced in the beginning, but after the introduction, it definitely captures the whole new aesthetic she is going for; it definitely showcases what an amazing singer she is. It is another summer song that is a feel-good song.
